This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday with a series of events. I like this idea because everyone’s schedules are different but this gives them a chance to choose an event that works best for them. This method allows you to see your friends and family at least once or several times during your birthday festivities.
Here is a recap of my birthday celebration.
It is tradition for me to indulge in extra self care when it is my birthday, so I always treat myself to a massage, I get my nails done at the spa, I get something Coach, and I stay in a hotel overnight so I can feel like I am on vacation. This year instead of getting myself another Coach bag (because I have so many) and booking a hotel room, I decided to treat myself to a photo shoot. (Which by the way was a great choice! If you missed those photos you can see them on my @yesherestherj instagram page. I plan on releasing a few more pictures from my birthday photo shoot so don’t forget to subscribe to my IG page.)
I normally get a Groupon for my birthday massage and get my nails done at Kibana Spa, however, my co-workers were raving about the Woodhouse Day Spa, so I decided to give them a try. Plus I missed out on the Groupon opportunity they had a few months ago and they were on my radar as a place I wanted to try. Overall I will say the Woodhouse Day Spa beats what I have been doing in the past because I truly enjoyed the services I received. I got my massage on Thursday, which is my actual birthday. I got my manicure and pedicure on Saturday because Michelle, (who was recommended by my coworkers) was not available on my actual birthday.
On Friday night I enjoyed a nice little intimate dinner with a few friends and family at my sister’s house. She always makes great food so there was no surprise there 🙂 By the way if I were to ever open a Haitian restaurant, she is 1 out of 3 people I would trust to cook the food lol.
On Saturday night I went to Sobe Lounge for a nice jazzy dinner with some family and friends. I really enjoyed their crab cakes. After dinner we headed out for a night on the town, which was fun.
Then Sunday morning I went with a few friends to Farmer’s & Distillers for brunch. The food was awesome, everyone enjoyed it, so we will definitely be back again for brunch. I knew this place would be a hit because I love their sister restaurant Farmers, Fishers, Bakers.
I did vlog most of my birthday festivities, check out the video below for the footage:
What are your plans for your next birthday? I would love to hear about them in the comment section below.
