These days almost everyone is looking for ways to save money, dating is no exception, especially if you are in a long term relationship. Let’s be real eating out for two can add up. Even though you want to save money on dates that does not mean your date can’t be romantic. Below is my list of inexpensive date ideas which can also be considered romantic:
Visit A Museum
Here in the DMV area most of the Smithsonian Museums are free if not all, including the zoo. I realize in other states this may not be the case but, I do believe museums and zoos more than likely are reasonably priced. How romantic would it be to learn something new about history as well as spark a little intellectual conversation with your date?
Everyone deserves a little dessert every now and then so go out for a cupcake, ice cream, or drink with your date. I love going to places like Sweet Frog where you can design your dessert. You can choose your ice cream base which in my case is normally the frozen fruit soft serve since I am lactose intolerant, then add your toppings. You can learn more about your date based on the toppings they add to their ice cream. Also, you can go to a nice little cafe for coffee, tea, or whatever other beverages they have available on the menu. Once you are there you should be able to converse comfortably with your date.
Go To Happy Hour
Most happy hours have specialized menus which feature a selection of food and alcoholic beverages at a discounted rate. Not only is this easier on the pockets, this helps you to not over indulge since the food portions are normally smaller.
Find Deals On Groupon
There are always a variety of activities listed Groupon at discounted rates. You can find activities such as go-karting, bowling, tickets to festivals, paint nite, etc.
Visit A Beach Or Park
I absolutely love the beach but I do not live near one so I only go when I am on vacation. However, almost everyone has access to a park in their area. There is something about being out in nature taking in the fresh air and breeze. You can go for a walk with your loved one, go biking, or have a picnic.
Most of the downtown areas I have traveled to are well lit with colorful lights at night and always have activities happening. At times you can catch live performances, free classes, explore the farmer’s market, enjoy the lawn, ride paddle boats, go to the movies, go ice skating, or watch others participating in these activities. Take a stroll through these areas with your significant other or whoever you are dating.
You can always google free things to do in your city or check out your city’s website. This site is normally loaded with tons of information regarding activities going on in your city.
