This past weekend I had the chance to go on a road trip to Wrightsville Beach, NC. This trip was pretty low key, relaxing, and just what I needed to end my summer with.
Babe and I truly enjoyed Wrightsville Beach. Every person in customer service we encountered was friendly and truly exhibited the essence of what southern hospitality is.
We drove down to Wrightsville Beach on Friday during the day, arriving just in time to go to my favorite place, the beach 🙂 Because we went to the beach around 5 pm, it was not really packed and parking was not hard to find. We stayed for about an hour, then we decided to go check in at our hotel. However, someone other than me locked the key in the trunk. So we couldn’t leave until about 8 ish, because we had to wait for a locksmith to help us unlock the car.
When we finally arrived at our hotel, the front desk receptionist, was able to give us the scoop on the best places to eat. The fatty in me rejoiced 🙂 We ended up eating dinner at Hops Supply Co. When I tell you the food there was awesome! I mean this place is a must if you are ever in the Wilmington, NC area.
My Salmon burger had the thickest tender patty I have ever had in my entire life and the mac and cheese was quite tasty as well. Babe had the steak and potatoes. He tore it up so I know he liked it. (Y’all know I don’t eat meat, otherwise I would have tried it lol.) Our waitress Jordan, was very friendly, she gave her honest opinion about the best options, which we appreciated. She was also very knowledgable.
We loved this place so much we tried to come back for brunch Sunday before we left town however there was about a 45 minute wait so we decided to go to Eternal Sunshine Cafe instead. Which was definitely another gem. I got the salmon breakfast sliders on a toasted croissant with hollandaise sauce and breakfast potatoes. Babe got the breakfast quesadilla which he said “they put their foot in this.” We will definitely be checking out both of these places when we return.
Since this place was also busy for brunch, we placed our order for our food to go. While we waited we had both regular and watermelon mimosas. They were both delicious.
Jumping back to Saturday, we had the breakfast provided at the hotel which was just ok. Shortly after breakfast, we worked out in the gym. We also worked up an appetite for lunch. Jordan, the waitress from the previous night recommended we head to Bridge Tender so that is where we dined for lunch. The food was also good. Since we had a late lunch we shared an appetizer with shrimp, a crab cake, a spring roll, and an oyster dish. We also had a nice side salad which featured candied walnuts, diced granny smith apples, and a blue berry vinaigrette. We spent the new few hours at the beach.
Later that evening we decided to catch Equalizer 2 which was a pretty good movie. We ate at Brix pizza right before. Babe really enjoyed his wings and my spinach dip was ok. Our waitress here was very nice as well.
All in all we had a great time and got some much needed rest and relaxation during this trip.
