I am currently on a journey to lose a few pounds, tone up, and be consistent with posting on my blog. So the tips I am sharing in this post are versatile. You can use them to motivate yourself to lose weight or apply them to any area in your life where you have a goal. This could be anything from becoming healthier, changing your lifestyle, getting a degree, or getting your dream job. Whatever it is here are my tips to help you get closer to your goal:
You must change your perspective on food or the situation you are trying to change. Ever heard the saying “insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result?” Well it is true. You have to eat differently, stop drinking those daily lattes, start working out, switch up your current workout routine, stop watching all those TV shows, stop doubting yourself, and change those nonproductive habits to get the results you want. Remember to remain optimistic about your journey.
Would you like to fit in those jeans you wore back in high school? Would you like to further your education? Or would you like to open up your own business? If you are trying to make a change in your life, the reason you want to do so should be good enough to keep you on track. If not, you are more likely not to stick with the plan.
Your focus should be on the end goal. Imagine how great you will look in that bikini this summer, imagine the career opportunities that will open to you from having your degree, imagine the flexibility you would have of running your own business. Now that you are imagining your future improved self, how are you going to get there?
Write down your plan for reaching your goal. This plan should be as detailed as possible. Are you going to workout more? Are you going to go back to school? Are you going to apply to your dream job?
You should also keep a journal to right down everything that occurs which relates to your goal. When you write down all your accomplishments you will be able to measure your progress.
For every milestone you reach along your journey treat yourself to something nice like a massage, a new piece of jewelry, or something non food related. This reminds you to enjoy the ride and will help you stay focused on the journey to reaching your end goal.
Your goal should be reachable. Do not try to lose 50 lbs in a week or think that you will build a successful business in one day. Now I am not saying miracles do not happen, I am just saying good luck with those unrealistic goals.
Everything takes time. It is unrealistic to think that everything will fall into place immediately. Be patient. Do not rush your journey if you want lasting results. Remember Rome was not built in one day.
Google is your friend. These days you can find out how to do anything on the world wide web. You can look up diets, lifestyle changes, how to build a business, or qualifications you will need for your next career move. Use the web to your advantage. There are also tons of books out there and plenty of people who have the results you would like to see in your life to learn from.
Do Not Give Up
Consistency is key. If at first you do not succeed try and try again until you are successful. Especially if your goal is something your heart really desires. If you eat a doughnut do not quit altogether and definitely do not beat yourself up about it. Acknowledge that you had the doughnut and write down your experience in your journey tracking journal. How did it make you feel? What triggered this craving? How were you feeling before your slip up? How will you prevent this from happeneing in the future?
Do not forget to have fun along the way. Enjoy the journey to your goal otherwise you could end up giving up too soon. Getting healthy and/ or chasing your dreams should be fun.
