A year ago today I posted my very first blog. I was very anxious, scared about what people would have to say about my opinions, and unsure of what the outcome of this journey would be. I tried to back out of creating this blog many times in the beginning stages. However, I couldn’t help but think of the possibilities this platform could create. What if I actually liked it? What if no one reads it? What if… What if…? All these questions could have prevented me from moving forward.
Then I realized sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith out into the unknown and allow the net to appear. This road has not by any means been easy but I am definitely glad I chose to follow my heart’s desire. In doing so, blogging has improved my life in many different ways.
I have learned many new skills
I created this website pretty much from scratch, by selecting a web host, selecting a template for this site (which I will be changing soon), and configuring it to my liking. It sounds so simple in that sentence but if you are a newbie to this type of stuff it definitely is not. I lost many hours of sleep trying to get this website to launch last year. I must admit I have much more respect for web developers now than I did before I started this journey.
I eventually learned to even edit my own videos. I learned all these skills by simply doing my research and without the help of a professional. I guess I can now add all these new skills to my resume 🙂
I am more consistent
In all of my research, I’ve discovered being consistent is one of the top recommendations for blogging (also this works for pretty much everything else.) Now I see why. People love routines so when you are consistent with something that others are interested in, naturally more people will be drawn in. Being consistent forces you to be accountable which proves you are in this for the long haul.
I was able to consistently post twice per week for most of the year. I never imagined I would be able to be this consistent, but I proved to myself that if I put my mind into something that I want, I will do whatever it takes.
I am inspired to dream bigger
Other than working for a regular paycheck I can still go home and work on my dreams. I have always loved writing and being creative. Maintaining this blog has allowed me to look forward to future opportunities which seem endless. I know it is soo easy to use not enough time in the day as an excuse as to why you are not working towards your dreams. But to be honest you should be carving out time to nourish your own personal goals.
Otherwise you maybe slowly dying inside from the lack of growth. What do you look forward to if you have no dreams, goals, and aspirations? Do you have some ideas but feel like they are silly? Well you should look at them as an opportunity to bring something to this world that only you can. Working towards your dreams will allow you to grow.
If there is an idea you hold close to your heart, I encourage you to take a leap of faith as well. You never know what can happen until you try.
The year 2018 pretty much just started. I am excited to share with you my new ideas, blog posts, and videos. What dreams are you working on bringing to life this year? Feel free to comment below.
Remember you only have one life to live, so live it be-U-tifully by being you to the fullest.
Peace & Love,
