30 Day Raw Fruit & Veggie Challenge

By the title of this post I am sure you are probably thinking to yourself raw fruits & veggies? Oh hell nah! Or hmmm interesting.  People mostly have those 2 reactions when I talk about this regimen.  Well I have been challenging myself to a 30 day raw fruit and veggie fast annually for approximately 5 years now.


To become healthier of course 🙂 Research supports that raw unprocessed fruits and vegetables are more beneficial than cooked ones.  When you boil and cook vegetables you lose some of the vitamins.  If you fry them, well let’s just say you can kiss most if not all of the nutrients goodbye.  An added benefit is you give your digestive system a break from those processed foods by filling it with whole foods your body recognizes naturally.


I started on January 2nd and will continue through to January 31st.  You can join anytime and do 30 days from your start date or continue until January 31st.

What is allowed?

Like the title of this post suggests you can have all the fruits and vegetables you want in raw form.  And no, this does not need to be the same boring salad every day.  You can scour the internet for recipes or create new ideas for salads from your own imagination.  Over the years I have found some interesting recipes that are actually quite satisfying.  I placed my favorite raw chef suggestions at the end of this post.

You can also indulge in raw nuts and seeds.  Keep in mind soaking your nuts is highly recommended to make them easier to digest and release some of the vitamins and minerals you would not get if the exterior enzymes are not broken down.

What else?

During this time I meditate for 5-10 minutes first thing in the morning, limit my time on social media, and ride in my car without the radio on.  I do this to tune into myself more.  This also helps to clear the mind.  In addition I plan on working out 3 to 4 days per week.
