Christmas is just a few weeks away and the holiday season is already in full effect. Although Christmas is glorified as a fun holiday the pressure to buy gifts for people, host dinner parties, attend holiday events, and etc can make this season a little stressful for some. But don’t let the pressure of this season suck the joy out of it for you.
Here are a few tips for making this holiday season less stressful:
- Plan Ahead! Think of things you can do in advance to help lighten your load and actually do them in advance. For example, if you are trying to eat healthier this holiday season, eat some vegetables prior to heading out to that holiday party. Eating healthier foods prior to attending an event will help fill up your stomach so you will hopefully think twice about overloading your plate with those unhealthy food options. Also, if you are planning a holiday gathering at your home, make whatever items you can make as far in advance as possible. (Like a couple of nights prior to the event.)
- Just Deal! During this season people and/ or situations may show up unexpectedly and trigger unnecessary stress induced emotions within you. Learn to face these circumstances head on and release the feeling of trying to control everything. No matter how much you plan, things will not always go exactly how you envision it so be flexible enough to deal accordingly. Reminder: Every action does not deserve a reaction from you.
- Have Fun! Overall the holidays should be an enjoyable time for you so have fun! Get creative, play games, spend time with your loved ones, and/or listen to holiday music. The bottom line is you should be doing whatever your spirit calls you to do 🙂
Hopefully you are already enjoying the holiday season.
